The Universe put this free app front of me, and sometimes things really do work out for the best.
A few more not-Adobe apps entered the limelight recently, this time aimed at taking on After Effects.
Although I can composite in Blender, Unreal Engine's use in movies and TV has me wondering if it might be a useful -- if excessive -- tool for me to learn.
My usual post-mortem breakdown of my Blender work, this one with a "disturbing image" disclaimer applied.
Thinking about my next Blender project, I wonder if it might not be better suited as a jumping-off point to finally learn Unreal Engine.
Two models that I think came out pretty nice, although they won't be used for their original intent.
Talking about my investigation into separating the art from the artist by employing my phone as an external webcam to record external video for gameplay recordings.
Making videos is fun, but I feel that there's something _missing_ that I can't identify.
I like the composition. I'm happy with the concept. It's the LIGHTING that I feel ruins the whole project.
I suck at design, so should I let a framework design for me? If so, which framework should I use?
3D printing, code refactoring (!), Andor wraps up again, and Star Citizen's 4.1.1 patch in the wild.
A project taken from a still image in an ad seen in a video.
Another Secret World inspired project, this time designed after a real-world property.
As per usual, my own postmortem, this one for my first rendered scene.
I went back and recreated the shader tree for the canyon, and recorded the node layout for posterity.
I found a way to use better textures on terrains exported from World Creator and while the renders aren't perfect, they're getting closer.
Generating terrain is fun, but getting into Blender for composition is the important part. World Creator has a direct export to Blender, but is it the best way to do it?
My first compositing attempt with Resolve Fusion and 3D objects from Blender.
Despite many videos watched on the subject, I thought "there has to be an easier way"...and there was!
This is the third time I have resurrected this post after having erased it accidentally from the site, and since it may be relevant to myself and others, here it is again, updated for 2024.
Lessons learned from my first stab at a "real" video production.
Another successful recreation, although with a whole lot of missteps. But I learned a lot, and I hope I remember it all the next time I could use the info.
I learned a better way to work with content of different sizes inside Fusion, so this is just an update on my previous post on how to do that.
I went back to one of my first learning projects with After Effects and tried to get it working in Resolve Fusion.
A finished product that I'm not totally disgusted by!
I spend more time, and more intensity on 3D modeling every time it comes around in my "rotation of interests". Why?
